Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) UK may occasionally update these Terms and Conditions without notice. Please review this page regularly, and if you are not happy with any changes made, please do not use the Site. We will assume that you have read and accepted the updated Terms and Conditions if you continue to use the Site after such changes have been made.

Our course contributors have given generously of their time and expertise to the development of the GHHM Course. Please understand that: 

i) All content on the online course is the property of the Global Health and Humanitarian Medicine Course and the individual contributors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Any unauthorised downloading, distribution, copying or re-recording will constitute an infringement of copyright. 

ii)You may make single copies of the materials available through this website solely for your personal, non-commercial use, and only if MSF preserve any copyright or other notices contained in or associated with them. You may not distribute such copies to others, whether or not in electronic form, whether or not for a charge or other consideration, without prior written consent of the owner of the materials. Requests for permission to reproduce or distribute materials available through this website should be emailed to our course administrator ghhm@london.msf.org      

ii) The materials contain sensitive and confidential patient data and any downloading, distribution, copying or re-recording will be an infringement on the rights of the patients. Any use of this data outside the explicit purpose of the GHMM course will also constitute a breach of Data Protection law. 

Accounts: 

The online accounts and profiles serve as a way to engender a sense of community in our environment as well as to protect the intellectual property of our contributors and sensitive information included in our materials. We ask that: 

iv) All information provided in relation to your Learner Account is and will be accurate, current and complete at all times; 

v) You will not share access information for your account, allow third party access or fail to keep your password secure. If you suspect that your account is no longer secure please contact the GHHM course organisers immediately; 

vi) You will not access or attempt to access any other Visitor or Learner’s account or falsely state, impersonate, or otherwise misrepresent your identity, including but not limited to the use of a pseudonym or misrepresenting your affiliations with a person or entity, past or present. 

Privacy Policy 
 
The GHHM takes your online privacy seriously. It is the stated policy of Médecins Sans Frontières UK that they will act in accordance with current legislation and aim to meet current best practice with regard to the processing of personal data. Médecins Sans Frontières UK complies with current Data Protection law. 

Registration information such as username, name, email and place of residence will be visible on your profile. Your password and any other information you choose to hide will not be disclosed. 

MSF-UK collects your personal data provided via the online platform for the sole purpose of administering the Global Health and Humanitarian Medicine Course. The data is processed under Article 6(1)(b) (performance of a contract) and Article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interests) of the General Data Protection Regulation. It is shared only with the academic institutions providing the course, or as otherwise required by law. We will securely retain your data on the online platform for 5 years following your completion of the course. You have a right to object to the processing of your data, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office should you feel our processing of your personal data is not compliant with the law. Should you discover any inaccuracies in your personal information or wish Médecins Sans Frontières UK to cease using your data as set out in this policy, please contact ghhm@london.msf.org. 

Once we receive your data transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems and we take reasonable steps to protect the information you provide us from theft, alteration or unauthorised inspection. However, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information. Médecins Sans Frontières UK cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. 

Code of Conduct 

We strive to create an accessible and inclusive learning environment. We hold the right to suspend your account if in the course organiser’s view you have: 

         i.            used racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit or abusive terms or images, or language that is likely to cause offence; 

       ii.            personally attacked or harassed other participants; 

     iii.            engaged in behaviour that may disrupt the learning environment such as using the forum for personal promotion or advertising that is irrelevant, sent spam mail or been actively hostile to other members; 

     iv.            not paid the relevant course fees within the time frame given. 

Please note that when participating in forums, chats or discussions your registered details will be used to identify you. By participating in these forums, you should remember that you are legally liable for the material you post, including libel and copyright infringement. 

Disclaimer of warranties and liability 

Because of the number of possible sources of information available through this website, and the inherent hazards and uncertainties of electronic distribution, there may be delays, omissions, or inaccuracies in such information. MSF cannot and does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, currentness, noninfringement, or fitness for a particular purpose of the information available through this website. MSF makes no warranty that this website will be error-free or continuously available, that defects will be corrected or that the Website or the server that makes it available are free of viruses or anything else which may be harmful or destructive. 

To the extent permitted by law, MSF will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss or damage whatsoever (including without limitation loss of business, opportunity, data, profits) arising out of or in connection with the use of the Website. 

MSF cannot be responsible for and does not endorse any statements made by third parties on this site or on any third-party websites. If you visit any website via a link on this Website you do so at your own risk. 

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall be construed so as to exclude or limit the liability of site for death or personal injury as a result of the negligence of site or that of its employees or agents. You, the site user, agree to indemnify and hold MSF and its employees and agents harmless from and against all liabilities, legal fees, damages, losses, costs and other expenses in relation to any claims or actions brought against site arising out of any breach by you of these Terms and Conditions or other liabilities arising out of your use of this Website. 

If any of these Terms and Conditions should be determined to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable for any reason by any court of competent jurisdiction then such Term or Condition shall be severed and the remaining Terms and Conditions shall survive and remain in full force and effect and continue to be binding and enforceable. 

If you breach these Conditions of Use and we take no action, we will still be entitled to use our rights and remedies in any other situation where you breach these Conditions of Use.

Without the prior written consent of the GHHM course organisers, you may not create a link to this site that incorporates or relies upon, in whole or in part, any content from any page on this website, or that incorporates any copyrighted or otherwise intellectual property of MSF. 

Cookies 

The cookies we use are first party cookies and are essential for the functionality throughout Moodle. Cookies must be enable in your browser as without the cookies you will be unable to use the site.  

Two cookies are used by this site: 

The essential one is the session cookie, usually called MoodleSession. You must allow this cookie into your browser to provide continuity and maintain your login from page to page. When you log out or close the browser this cookie is destroyed (in your browser and on the server). 

The other cookie is purely for convenience, usually called something like MOODLEID. It just remembers your username within the browser. This means when you return to this site the username field on the login page will be already filled out for you. It is safe to refuse this cookie - you will just have to retype your username every time you log in. 

Cookie name and Purpose 

MOODLEID_ Remembers username information for a defined period of time. 

MoodleSession The session cookie, set by an open source LMS called Moodle Session is to assist navigation and maintain logged in status. 

MoodleSessionTest The session cookie, also set by Moodle, is used to check if the ‘MoodleSession’ cookie is being created. 

umbPanel_pHeight Stores dimensions of your browser assist with displaying the site in your browser RCSEDWeb2012 Stores your logged in status for the duration of your visit. 

MOODLEID This persistent cookie, also set by Moodle, is used to remember a usernames, so that when a user revisits the site, the user’s username will automatically populate in the username field of the login page.
